Palestine Ahliya University Steps Up Preparations for International Physiotherapy Conference Featuring Cutting-Edge Scientific Themes

Palestine Ahliya University continues its intensive preparations for the launch of the International Physiotherapy Conference, titled International Conference on Physiotherapy: Toward Global Standards in Rehabilitation: Promoting Evidence-Based Practice and Advancing the Role of Physiotherapy in Health Systems” The conference is scheduled to take place on 12–13 May 2026 in Bethlehem, under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, and in partnership with the Association of the  Society of Arab Faculties and Institutes of Physiotherapy.

In this context, the Conference Chair and President of the University, Prof. Imad Al-Zeer, affirmed that the conference is being organized in response to global transformations in the field of health rehabilitation. He noted that it will focus on advanced scientific themes, including evidence-based practice in physiotherapy, recent innovations in rehabilitation, the integration of academic and clinical dimensions, as well as the role of physiotherapy in enhancing the quality and sustainability of healthcare systems.

Additionally, He further explained that the conference will serve as a distinguished scientific platform, bringing together a select group of researchers and experts from local and international academic and healthcare institutions to discuss the latest studies and applied practices, and to exchange expertise in specialized rehabilitation fields. This initiative aims to contribute to the development of health education outcomes and align them with the needs of the labor market.

Prof. Al-Zeer also pointed out that the conference seeks to support the integration of physiotherapy services into national health policies and to reinforce its role as a fundamental pillar of comprehensive healthcare systems, particularly in light of increasing health challenges.

Dr. Ratib Abu Shameh, The Chair of the Scientific Committee, stated that the committee has received a large number of scientific papers covering various themes of the conference. He emphasized that the review process is being conducted according to rigorous academic standards to ensure quality and objectivity, thereby enhancing the scientific value of the conference and its research outcomes.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the Preparatory Committee, Mr. Jiries Abu Ghannam, confirmed that the logistical and technical preparations are progressing at a rapid pace. He noted that efforts are underway to finalize the scientific program, organize specialized sessions and workshops, and prepare the conference publications and informational resources, ensuring that the conference is presented in a manner that reflects the standing of the university and its partners.

The conference is expected to serve as a landmark event in the region, offering strategic themes that will contribute to the advancement of the physiotherapy profession and strengthen its role in building more efficient and resilient healthcare systems.
