Measurement of the total number and proportion of graduates qualifying to teach at the primary level relative to total graduates.

Introduction:

PAU firmly establishes a commitment to the furtherance of SDG 4 through the preparation of qualified and competent teachers who would contribute toward upgraded quality teaching and learning outcomes across Palestine. Specialized programs at the university, offered through the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences, such as Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Special Education, along with the Professional Diploma in Teacher Qualification, prepare students with the necessary pedagogical, ethical, and technological competencies to teach in primary education settings.

All PAU teacher education programs were developed within the framework established by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in accordance with best practices in contemporary education. The curriculum combines theoretical constructs of the educational sciences with field and practicum training at local schools to ensure that graduates take away a combination of academic knowledge and teaching skills.

Additionally, the university strongly emphasizes digital and innovative approaches to teaching, and through its E-Learning Center, it supports the provision of resources and training in the use of educational technologies and blended learning methods. The PAU graduate is thus equipped to design interactive learning environments and adapt to the changing face of 21st-century classrooms.

Many students graduate each year from PAU, obtaining qualifications that allow them to teach at the primary level, especially from the above programs. These courses aim at fostering inclusive education, child-centered learning, and active pedagogical strategies that would provide a venue for future teachers to promote critical thinking, creativity, and social responsibility in their students.

Beyond academic curricula, PAU continues to engage prospective educators in continuous professional growth through training sessions, micro-teaching, and collaboration with local schools and educational institutions. The university also embeds sustainability and SDG awareness within the education curriculum, cultivating a generation of teachers who would not only educate but also inspire sustainable and inclusive learning communities.

By tracking and reporting on the number and percentage of graduates qualified to teach, PAU demonstrates measurable progress towards SDG Target 4.c, which seeks to substantially increase the supply of qualified teachers through both national and international cooperation and through institutional excellence.
