Palestine Ahliya University Named to Executive Council of Association of Arab Universities

During the 57th General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities, held at the International University in Kuwait from April 23–26, 2025, with the participation of approximately 250 Arab universities under the theme “Enhancing Regional Integration and Digital Transformation in Arab Higher Education,” Palestine Ahliya University, represented by its President Dr. Imad Al-Zeer, was elected to the Executive Council of the Association for the 57th and 58th terms, representing Palestinian universities.

The Executive Council’s tasks, which align with the mission of the Association of Arab Universities, include supporting and coordinating the efforts of Arab universities to prepare individuals capable of serving the Arab nation, preserving its cultural and civilizational unity, and developing its human resources to meet its aspirations. Additionally, the council encourages the establishment of research centers, supports the conduct of joint scientific research, promotes the exchange of research results, and focuses on applied research while linking its topics to Arab economic and social development plans. It also contributes to strengthening cooperation between Arab universities, coordinating efforts among them, and with regional and international universities and institutions, especially in line with contemporary developments, educational technologies, and modern educational methods. Furthermore, the council supports the development of the performance and independence of Arab universities, emphasizes academic and research freedom for their faculty members, protects their rights, and strengthens cooperation among them. The council also encourages excellence and innovation, fosters joint student activities between Arab universities, and collaborates to regulate the quality of higher education, ensure its standards, and work toward mutual recognition of degrees issued by Arab universities.

In this context, Dr. Dawood Al-Zeer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Palestine Ahliya University, welcomed this step, considering it a result of the pioneering role the university plays at the local, Arab, and international levels.  He wished success and steadfastness in fulfilling this new responsibility, aimed at strengthening cooperation and advancing the academic endeavor across the Arab world.
