The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is one of the global university rankings that focuses on assessing universities’ commitment to sustainability through a set of indicators related to campus environment and infrastructure, energy and water management, transportation, and waste management, as well as sustainability-related education and research.

Palestine Ahliya University’s continued presence in this ranking reflects an institutional commitment to advancing sustainability as an integral component of campus development and the enhancement of administrative and academic practices, rather than as a set of standalone initiatives. This commitment is demonstrated through efforts to improve resource-use efficiency, develop university facilities and services, raise awareness of environmentally responsible practices, and support education and research related to sustainable development.

This progress also reflects the University’s commitment to developing a more efficient and sustainable campus and advancing its institutional practices in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and emerging international trends in higher education, which place sustainability and environmental responsibility among the key priorities for university development and strengthening institutional impact on society.

Maintaining third place in Palestine, together with the University’s advancement in the 2026 global ranking, underscores the importance of continuing to strengthen its institutional sustainability framework and fostering greater integration among infrastructure, operational practices, education, research, and community awareness. These efforts contribute to creating a more sustainable university environment that is better equipped to respond to contemporary environmental and development challenges.

Palestine Ahliya University continues to strengthen sustainability as a key pillar of its institutional development, contributing to an enhanced university experience, reinforcing its responsibility toward society and the environment, and supporting its pursuit of a strong academic and institutional presence at both the regional and international levels.
