
Palestine Ahliya University and the University of Jordan Sign Academic MoU to Strengthen Scientific and Research Collaboration
Ahliya University and the University of Jordan signed an academic Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening joint collaboration in graduate studies, scientific research, education, and the exchange of academic expertise between the two institutions.
The memorandum of understanding was formally signed on behalf of Palestine Ahliya University by its President, Prof. Imad Al-Zeer, and on behalf of the University of Jordan by its President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat. The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at Palestine Ahliya University, Prof. Nasser Jardat, along with the Vice Presidents of the University of Jordan and the Director of its International Affairs Unit.
Prof. Imad Al-Zeer highlighted that the memorandum of understanding reflects Palestine Ahliya University’s strategic vision to enhance its academic partnerships regionally and internationally. He acknowledged the complex challenges facing Palestine’s higher education sector, particularly the shortage of academic staff in advanced specializations, while emphasizing that higher education remains a pivotal instrument for strategic resilience and future development. Prof. Al-Zeer further commended the University of Jordan for its sustained support to Palestinian universities and students, underlining the significance of such partnerships in fostering knowledge transfer and expertise exchange.
Prof. Nathir Obeidat affirmed the University of Jordan’s pride in its robust academic partnerships with Palestinian universities, praising the high caliber and academic distinction of their graduates, as well as their remarkable ability to address challenges. He further reaffirmed the University of Jordan’s ongoing commitment to supporting higher education in Palestine.
The meeting also explored avenues for joint collaboration in several priority areas, including advanced specialization programs in medicine and nursing, educational and administrative disciplines, and other academic programs designed to meet the needs of both institutions.
The memorandum outlines the expansion of collaboration across multiple domains, including the exchange of faculty members and researchers, the implementation of joint academic programs, the undertaking of collaborative research projects, and the organized exchange of students. It further provides for the hosting of joint conferences and scientific symposia, as well as the sharing of academic materials and resources. The memorandum also designates a liaison coordinator from each university to monitor the implementation of its provisions and ensure the smooth execution of all collaborative activities in line with the established understandings.
This initiative reflects Palestine Ahliya University’s strategic efforts to enhance its academic presence both regionally and internationally, and to broaden its network of strategic partnerships, thereby contributing to the development of higher education quality, advancing scientific research, and serving students and the broader Palestinian academic community.
