Opening of the Psychological Relief Tent
Palestine Ahliya University inaugurated the Psychological Relief Tent on campus as part of a special day of interactive activities aimed at supporting students’ mental and emotional well-being. The event was attended by University leadership, representatives from the UNFPA Health Program, the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, and a large number of students, staff, and partners.
The program opened with a welcoming speech by the Coordinator of the Youth-Friendly Health Center, followed by remarks from project partners who emphasized the importance of collaboration and the need to highlight mental and physical health issues from a holistic perspective. The initiative reflects the University’s ongoing efforts to modernize student health services by transforming the traditional clinic into a dynamic, youth-friendly center that fosters innovation and supports student-led initiatives.
The event included a panel discussion with students who proposed the idea of the tent, in addition to an engaging entertainment segment featuring educational questions, prizes, and interactive activities such as table tennis, tug of war, chess, expressive drawing, and more.
During the activities, the University President welcomed and honored the representatives from UNFPA and the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, stressing the importance of aligning future interventions with real needs and maintaining strong partnerships that support students and the local community.
This initiative is part of the University’s ongoing Mental and Reproductive Health Program, implemented for more than two years in partnership with the Palestinian Medical Relief Society and UNFPA, and supported by the Community Development and Continuing Education Center, the Alumni Unit, and the Deanship of Student Affairs. The program will continue to expand in the coming years.
