Active participation and contribution to national and regional SDG policy development in coordination with governments, NGOs, and intergovernmental agencies.
Introduction:
Palestine Ahliya University (PAU) plays a pivotal role in shaping policy development and advancing research related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through its academic and institutional initiatives, the university actively contributes to identifying and addressing key national and regional challenges in areas such as food security, healthcare, and sustainable governance. It collaborates with governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations, and international institutions to develop effective policies and strategic frameworks that align with the SDGs, producing evidence-based recommendations and driving sustainable transformation across multiple sectors. In addition, PAU organizes national conferences and interdisciplinary dialogues that bring together policymakers, researchers, and civil society to exchange knowledge and promote innovative solutions to sustainability challenges. By combining academic excellence, community engagement, and strategic partnerships, the university ensures its contributions extend beyond academia—making a tangible impact on national policy development, institutional reform, and sustainable community advancement.
Sustainable Health Services Delivery Policy at PAU (SDG 3
Palestine Ahliya University (PAU) has introduced a Sustainable Health Services Delivery Policy (Policy No. 12/P.D/2024) to integrate environmental, social, and economic sustainability across its healthcare services.
The policy outlines measures for reducing the ecological footprint of health operations, including energy-efficient technologies, water conservation, and sustainable waste management.
It also emphasizes equitable access to health services—especially in underserved communities—and strengthens preventive care and community engagement through public health initiatives.
To support sustainable practice, PAU plans to train health professionals on green health models, build partnerships with local and international health organizations, and monitor progress using key performance indicators such as utilization of mental health services, sexual health education participation, and sustainable patient care metrics.
