The Department of Islamic Studies was established at Palestine National University in 1432AH/2011AD in order to achieve the objectives of higher education in Palestine and to complete the mission of the university in the service of the homeland and the nation,and the department aims to enable the student to form an integrated knowledge of Islamic law, and facilitate his access to multiple job opportunities.
The mission of the department is to launch a distinctive specialization in Islamic studies aimed at identifying the Islamic religion, clarifying what many of its teachings and provisions have missed, and the extent of its impact on people’s living, behavioral, social and scientific lives.
Hence, the Department of Islamic Studies saw the need to work to educate people religiously, educate them about the correct Islamic culture, and enlighten them about the truth of this religion and its lofty meanings and values away from what we see and see from some of its affiliates, who offended and did not improve, and made mistakes and did not hurt, so they painted the religion with fanaticism and introversion. Thus, preparing a generation of preachers to God on sound scientific and educational foundations that qualify them to carry out the mission of calling to God, and meet the country’s need for specialists in education, thought, education, imamate, Sharia judiciary, and fatwa.
Upon completion of this major, the student is expected to be able to:
- To be able to understand the knowledge related to the Holy Quran: in terms of: the descent, its history, its causes, its qualities, its place, its time, its drawing, its writing, its translation, its miracle, and its safety from distortion and alteration.
- To be able to understand the knowledge related to the Sunnah of the Prophet: in terms of: its status, the controls of understanding it, the emergence of the science of terminology and its importance, the types of Hadith, the Prophet’s biography and the stages it passed through.
- To be able to understand the knowledge related to Islamic jurisprudence, its definition, subject, purpose, research, origin, types and sections, characteristics of legislation, its purposes, sources andschools of jurisprudence, the four Imams, the principles of jurisprudence of transactions, as well as knowledge related to Islamic belief, worship and personal status, the pillars of faith , the family and its characteristics, jihad, its legitimacy and rule. The Islamic system of governance, administration and criminal legislation.
- Be able to understand knowledge related to other investigations such as Arabic, English, social sciences, computers, sports, education, and others.
- The ability of students to master skills: including the science of Tajweed, the skill of research in the graduation project, the skill of practical public speaking, and skills related to teaching through the implementation of applied classes, and the application of the provisions of inheritance and inheritance using the computer.
- To be able to understand, assimilate and apply values and trends: the most important of which are religious, moral, social, aesthetic, national and scientific values and trends, including: faith-based values, contemplation of God’s ability and use of Him, love of the Prophet peace be upon him, following His example and companions, pride in Arab and Islamic civilization, tolerance, helping others and respecting them, participating in events and holidays, promoting voluntary and cooperative work, and appreciating research and knowledge.
