Introduction
Palestine Ahliya University (PAU) organizes academic and educational events that promote knowledge exchange, public engagement, and lifelong learning. Through its faculties, academic departments, research activities, and institutional partnerships, the University provides opportunities for academics, researchers, professionals, students, and members of the wider community to engage in educational discussions and benefit from specialized knowledge.
During 2025–2026, PAU continued to organize and support academic conferences, scientific seminars, research presentations, workshops, and educational activities addressing contemporary issues in education, technology, artificial intelligence, law, health sciences, and professional development.
Academic Conferences and Knowledge-Sharing Events
The University supports academic conferences and educational events that bring together specialists, researchers, practitioners, and interested participants to exchange knowledge and discuss developments in different fields.
In January 2026, the Faculty of Law organized the Second Peer-Reviewed Student Legal Conference, entitled “Law in the Age of AI: Student Perspectives on Future Legislation.” The conference provided a scholarly platform for presenting student research and discussing the legal, legislative, and ethical implications of artificial intelligence. Its sessions addressed topics including digital transformation, intellectual property, commercial transactions, constitutional matters, and the future of legislation.
The event demonstrated the University’s commitment to promoting research-based learning, academic dialogue, and the dissemination of knowledge on emerging societal and technological issues.
PAU also organized the OpenMind PAU AI Hackathon in May 2026, bringing together students from Palestine Ahliya University and Bethlehem University to develop innovative solutions and practical prototypes in areas including education, business, healthcare, and cybersecurity. The event encouraged collaborative learning, problem-solving, and the practical application of knowledge.
Public and Community-Oriented Educational Activities
In addition to academic conferences, PAU seeks to connect its educational mission with the needs and interests of the wider community through public lectures, educational seminars, awareness activities, and community-oriented events.
These activities provide opportunities for knowledge sharing between university academics, students, external experts, professionals, and community stakeholders. They address relevant educational, social, scientific, and technological topics and encourage dialogue between the University and the surrounding community.
The University’s academic faculties and administrative units contribute to organizing and coordinating these activities in cooperation with relevant external institutions and partners.
Institutional Framework for Public Educational Activities
PAU’s commitment to organizing educational activities for the public is supported by its Policy for Managing Educational Activities for the Public (Internal and External), listed under policy code PS_19_SDG04_5 within the University’s SDG 4 policy framework.
The policy provides an institutional basis for managing educational activities directed toward internal and external audiences and supports the University’s efforts to promote public engagement, educational participation, and knowledge dissemination.
Contribution to SDG 4
Through academic conferences, research presentations, educational workshops, public seminars, and community-oriented learning activities, Palestine Ahliya University contributes to expanding access to knowledge and creating opportunities for educational engagement beyond its enrolled student population.
These activities support lifelong learning, academic exchange, innovation, and the dissemination of knowledge, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4.
