Palestine Ahliya University Joins International Conference on “Universities and AI Technology,” Strengthening Academic Cooperation with Chinese Institutions

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its international academic presence and engage with global experiences in the fields of artificial intelligence and information technology, Palestine Ahliya University participated in the Second International Conference titled “Universities and Artificial Intelligence Technology,” organized by the Association of Arab Universities in cooperation with the Chinese Universities Association in Amman, Jordan. The conference witnessed broad participation from university presidents, experts, and researchers representing 18 countries across the Arab world and China.

Palestine Ahliya University was represented at this international event by Prof. Imad Al-Zeer, University President and Member of the Executive Council of the Association of Arab Universities, and Dr. Haitham Hijazi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. Both participated in the conference sessions and side meetings, as well as in the activities of the China–Arab Cooperation Program (10+10), which aims to strengthen communication channels between Arab and Chinese universities and to develop joint scientific and research initiatives.

During the opening session of the conference, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, emphasized that universities worldwide are undergoing profound transformations driven by the rapid advancements in AI. He noted that this technological revolution requires universities to keep pace by integrating AI tools into education, administration, and scientific research. Dr. Salama also highlighted global models demonstrating the impact of AI, citing international reports that indicate the integration of these technologies has enhanced university performance efficiency by 40%, improved student engagement and cognitive skills, and reduced academic dropout rates in several leading universities around the world.

For his part, Prof. Imad Al-Zeer pointed out that Palestine Ahliya University’s participation in this conference aligns with its strategic vision to expand international academic partnerships and build bridges of scientific cooperation with leading higher education institutions. He noted that through this participation, the university seeks to develop joint research and training programs with Chinese universities in the fields of artificial intelligence, information technology, and digital transformation.

Dr. Haitham Hijazi highlighted that the bilateral meetings held alongside the conference opened promising opportunities for future collaboration in research, training, and academic exchange, enhancing the university’s engineering and digital education environment.

The two-day conference addressed several key scientific themes, including personalized education, support for research, streamlining administrative processes, and ethical considerations of AI use in universities. Through its participation, Palestine Ahliya University reaffirmed its commitment to keeping pace with global technological advancements and enhancing its leadership role in integrating research with practical applications, aiming to prepare a generation capable of driving digital transformation in Palestine and the region.
