
Palestine Ahliya University participates in the First Conference of Arab and Indian University Presidents
Palestine Ahliya University, represented by its President, Dr. Imad Al-Zeer, and the President Assistant for International and Public Relations Affairs, Mr. Jiries Abu Ghanam, participated in the First Conference of Arab and Indian University Presidents, held in the Indian capital, New Delhi. The conference was organized within the education sector to establish the Arab-Indian Universities Union.
The conference focused on cooperation in higher education and skills development between India and the Arab League towards growth and prosperity. It emphasized strengthening academic collaboration, including the use of digital platforms, as well as promoting joint research and innovation in science and technology, particularly in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology. Additionally, the conference highlighted the importance of faculty and student exchange and cooperation in curriculum development.
In his speech, the President of Palestine Ahliya University, Dr. Imad Al-Zeer, emphasized the significance of this conference, which brings together higher education leaders from the Arab world and India. Dr. Al-Zeer also expressed the importance of international academic exchange and cooperation in curriculum development, especially in light of the current situation in Palestine, to ensure the Palestinian people’s right to education.
Dr. Al-Zeer also highlighted the challenges faced by Arab and Indian universities, which can be overcome through international academic cooperation. These challenges include: enhancing the quality of education, improving research standards, developing joint research partnerships, increasing employment opportunities for students and graduates, and improving university rankings. Additionally, he mentioned successful models and experiences of international academic cooperation at Palestine Ahliya University.
In his recommendation, Dr. Al-Zeer suggested the establishment of an Arab-Indian academic alliance to enhance exchange opportunities and create clear mechanisms for academic partnerships. He proposed launching joint e-learning platforms to support online learning and research collaboration, particularly for Palestinian students facing mobility restrictions. Additionally, he recommended organizing joint workshops and academic conferences to foster communication between academics and students from different countries, and establishing joint funding initiatives for research in fields such as food security, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence.
On the sidelines of the conference, a visit was made to the Palestinian Embassy in India, where a meeting was held with the Charge d’Affaires, Dr. Abdul Razzaq Abu Jazar, to discuss ways of mutual cooperation.
