Annual Mandatory Training on Environmental, Social, and Ethical Sustainability for All Academic and Administrative Staff
Introduction
Palestine Ahliya University (PAU) is fully committed to fostering a culture of sustainability among all its employees, including academic and administrative staff. The university’s annual mandatory training program provides a holistic learning experience, covering environmental, social, and ethical aspects of sustainability. This program equips staff with the knowledge, skills, and values required to create a responsible, inclusive, and ethical university environment.
Objectives
The training aims to:
- Enhance environmental awareness and individual responsibility.
- Develop staff skills in environmental and social sustainability.
- Promote ethical behavior aligned with PAU’s core values.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and socially responsible work environment.
- Integrate sustainability and ethical principles into daily university operations.
Training Modules Content
- Environmental Sustainability Topics:
- Introduction to sustainability concepts.
- Waste management and recycling.
- Energy and water efficiency.
- Sustainable transportation.
- Green procurement practices.
- Compliance with environmental policies.
- Social Sustainability Topics:
- Diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
- Social justice and community development.
- Mental health and wellbeing.
- Effective communication for community engagement.
- Supporting marginalized groups and people with disabilities.
- Ethical & Professional Conduct Topics:
- Integrity, fairness, and respect in the workplace.
- Anti-discrimination and anti-harassment awareness.
- Human rights and social responsibility.
- Professional behavior and accountability.
- Promoting ethical decision-making within the university community.
Implementation & Attendance
- The training is mandatory for all staff (academic and administrative).
- Attendance is recorded through the university’s internal systems.
- Participants receive an official Certificate of Completion after attending and completing the required training hours.
Duration & Delivery
- Organized by: University Sustainability Center.
- Target Audience: All PAU staff members.
- Duration: 8 training hours delivered over two days.
- Method: Workshops, seminars, online learning sessions, and case-study discussions.
